Inspired by: “A giant shape moving towards me.”

A giant shape moving towards me. I was frozen in my tracks. What was this shape and more importantly, what did it want with me? I had never seen something so large move so lithely. There was an inexplicable grace that the creature, or at least I thought it was a creature, contained. I automatically assumed that it was indeed a creature because although robots had become far more advanced and natural in their movement, they could still not replicate beasts made of carbon and water. Water, yes, it moved like water. As just like water, it could be harmless has it winded its way down a window pane or terrifying as it hurdled down a cliff, becoming daggers as it pounded the rocks below.

The creature was now much closer, and the vague outline of its shape now transformed into more details. It was covered in a sort of film, an exoskeleton that seemed to protect an pulsating and glimmering flesh below. I could not make out any eyes or nose, but it had a monstrous mouth, now slightly open and revealing four rows of blunted teeth. I began to wonder if it could sense me, considering the apparent lack of vision and smell, the senses that most animals used to take in their surroundings.

I couldn’t help but imagine hostility of those rows of teeth as the water-like animal moved closer and closer to me. It could probably swallow me whole, not even needing its teeth to cut me up into bite-sized morsels.

The earth trembled as it made its final approach. My legs began to tremble although I’m unsure if the quivering came from within me or from the ground beneath my feet.

Either way, there was no chance of running now. The creature was meer meters away and could reach out its arm to seal my demise.

I could only stand in awe and listen to the sound of my pounding chest.
